Custom Forest Bamboo Meditation Flutes In Cured Chinese Tonkin Bamboo Species

Transverse flutes featuring 4, 5, and 6 tone hole tuning systems in Oriental scales, Eastern scales and Ragas from India. In my workshop, I now cure only one species of Chinese Tonkin bamboo all year long. When I build your flute order I drill the emboucher and the tone holes first, then I finish the tone holes with a quick burn from a selection of burning rods. All flutes are now built from cured Chinese Tan Tonkin bamboo. I use a mix of stains to achieve the green finish or the dark finish. Some of my flute designs are based on the David Carradine {Kung Fu TV Series) design model (bamboo flute can rest on the left shoulder) and built in the ancient tradition of the master flute builders from China and India. Many of the new 2009 flutes are based on the more traditional side blown bamboo flute design which does not rest on your shoulder.

Fire is used within the building process for hardening the bamboo, creating the finish and the mouthpiece of my Shakuhachi's and also used in burning the tone holes. I use a nice custom mix of dark and red stain finish, an eco-flow natural water based stain color embellishing application, bee's wax and a final treatment of natural oil.
