Xiao flutes have a history of over 400 years. These flutes are treasures among Chinese flutes. In the Ming and Tsing dynasty, Xiao flutes were designated tributes to the palace. So Xiao are also called "Tribute Flutes".

Made from Cured Chinese Tonkin Bamboo. 3 octaves. A 440 concert pitch tuning.

This flute features 5 tone holes with a thumb hole like an Oriental flute though tuned with an Egyptian scale you would hear on an Egyptian Ney flute.

My artist wife Nicole Richardson has hand carved and painted the Reiki symbol Cho-Ku-Rei on the front of the body of this healing sounding flute.

Flower of Life symbols adorn the lower half.

21 inches in length. Brown thread bindings. The bore is sealed in cherry red.

This beautiful small Shakuhachi features a colorful peacock above the tone holes. Strong cured Chinese bamboo stock.

The mouthpiece has been created by burning with a selection of burning rods. The inside of this flute has been colored with burgandy color.

Inspired by the bamboo flute that David Carradine plays in scenes from Kill Bill. The flute featured in Kill Bill is a David Carradine flute design.

David is a unique flute builder and he grows his own bamboo, harvests it, and designs beautiful bamboo flutes for himself.

Built from cured Chinese stone bamboo. This exotic flute is 2 feet in length. In the summer months I use some fire to color the finish and seal in bee's wax while still hot from the fire. Many times I build the flute as pictured in photo number 5. With either design this flute is a gorgeous art piece as well as an incredible sounding flute. Each piece of bamboo is different and each art piece is inspired so each one of our flutes are unique.
